The ScanMagic 9636 LS is a complete legal-size, 36-bit color scanning system, which includes the tools needed to scan photographs, logos, illustrations, legal documents, and text. The 9636 LS includes image editing and photo-retouching software as well as optical character recognition software.
The ScanMagic 9636 LS has an optical resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi and a maximum software enhanced resolution of 9600 dpi. With its 36-bit color abilities, the 9636 LS can recognize over 68.7 billion colors internally and save up to 16.7 million colors, the maximum number of colors displayable by Windows. The ScanMagic 9636 LS is a TWAIN compliant scanner. Through TWAIN, the 9636 LS can scan directly into many supported applications, providing flexibility and value. For Macintosh, the 9636 LS uses PhotoShop plug-ins that can be used with a variety of popular Macintosh imaging programs. Cross Platform Scanner The ScanMagic 9636 LS is truly a cross-platform scanner. It includes all the software and hardware necessary to operate under Windows 3.1, Windows 95/98 and in Macintosh environments. Windows installation is easy with the included 16-bit SCSI card. Macintosh installation is even easier, the scanner plugs into the Mac's built-in SCSI port and the software is all on CD-ROM. |

| Compact Design The overall dimensions of the 9636 LS are 21.7" x 11.8" x 3.9", making it one of the most versatile and efficient legal-size scanners in the world. Easy To Use The Direct Scan Program (Windows 95/98 only) automatically launches when you open the scanner cover. Choose the destination for your scanned document from iPhoto Plus, TextBridge Classic OCR, Fax, Print or e-mail. Press the scan button and your document will automatically be sent to the proper application. Users who desire more control over scanner settings can disable the Direct Scan Program and use the ScanMagic 9636 LS TWAIN driver instead. The full versions of Picture Publisher 5.0 for Windows 3.1 and 6.0 for Windows 95/98 are both included on CD-ROM. Picture Publisher's visual tools are easy to use and allow unparalleled creative freedom. They provide an interactive preview to display the results before they are applied. If a mistake is made, Picture Publisher's InfiniteUndo™ and Command Layering™ can eliminate any previous action or rearrange the order in which commands were applied. Ulead's iPhoto Plus 4 for Windows 95/98 allows you to easily create your own custom calendars, greeting cards and more. MicroFrontier's Color It! is included for image editing on the Macintosh. Color It! provides all the tools to scan, retouch and save an image.
With its "Instant Access OCR" feature, Xerox TextBridge Classic software allows documents to be scanned for editing directly with your word processing software. TextBridge is powerful and easy to use, capable of recognizing many different fonts at various sizes, quickly and accurately converting scanned documents into editable formats.
The included image editing software allows the ScanMagic 9636 LS to save in JPEG and GIF file formats commonly used for Internet graphics. The GIF file format allows transparent areas and interlaced downloading.
